Sabrina Carpenter's Met Gala hair is a masterclass in voluminous blow-dry prep

5 products and a dryer against the world

Editor / May 06 2025

Sabrina Carpenter’s hair looking otherworldly is nothing out of the ordinary, whether she's embracing her natural curls or locking her bangs in before a performance. However, a peek into the exact products involved can be rarer, especially when it comes to events as flashy as the Met Gala.

So when hair stylist extraordinaire Evanie Frausto shared intel into precisely which formulas he used to craft Carpenter’s voluminous blowout, we were ready to both alert you ASAP and purchase multiples of every one...

Frausto created a slightly more ‘undone’ style for Carpenter for the 2025 Met Gala, with her usual tighter spiral curls traded out for fluffier, softer ripple waves. Whilst the exact hair tool Frausto wielded (the L’Oreal Professionnel AirLight Pro) isn’t currently available in Australia, you really can’t go past the Dyson Airwrap ($849 at Myer) for airy volume like this.

As for adding texture, volume and touchability, Frausto relied on a carefully selected prep, protect and hold routine. For heat protection and added control, he applied the Redken Thermal Spray ($45 at Oz Hair & Beauty), a formula that helps to shield against heat protection, but also focuses on enhancing longevity. After all, spanning from the hours-long carpet to the party inside (and the after-parties beyond it), the Met is a long night.

Now, it can be assumed the masses of volume and dramatic length Carpenter showcased were supported by some extensions, but keeping her blonde hair looking as healthy as it does is a true achievement regardless. Fraustro shared that he relies on the Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Leave-In Treatment ($55 at Adore Beauty), a leave-in conditioner designed to support and repair damaged hair, focusing on enhancing smoothness and softness. And it only takes one look at Carpenter’s strands to see how impressive the results are.

For lightweight, flexible volume (and seamless shaping into the team's desired style), Carpenter's hair was spritzed with the Redken Volume Maximiser Thickening Spray ($45 at Adore Beauty), before the deal was sealed with coats of the Redken Dry Texture Finishing Spray ($45 at Oz Hair & Beauty) and Redken Max Hold Hairspray ($41.50 at Adore Beauty). Teaming a dry texture spray with a classic hairspray is the secret to keeping hair touchable whilst still ensuring it doesn’t fall out of place before the evening’s festivities are over.
