Margot Robbie's 'windswept flush' can be credited to 9 different blush formulas
Here's every blush she's worn in 'Wuthering Heights' and on the red carpet
It seems everyone talking about Wuthering Heights right now is too focused on the chemistry between Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi to notice what really matters: Margot Robbie's blush.
It's very pigmented, it's multi-dimensional, and it's placed rather uniquely, not just on the apples of cheeks, but veiled across the entire cheekbone. It almost looks, dare we say, like the natural flush we spy after a brisk morning walk, but like, in a chic way?
Well, as it turns out, that's kind of the idea. Both Siân Miller, the hair and makeup designer for Wuthering Heights, and Pati Dubroff, Robbie's real-life makeup artist designed their glam looks to give Robbie (and her character Cathy) a fresh-from-the-wind flush.
Here's how Miller crafted Cathy's blush moments, and how Dubroff paid homage to them through Robbie's red carpet rouge...

Margot Robbie's Wuthering Heights blush
“We wanted this weather-beaten look for the characters at Wuthering Heights,” Miller shared in a conversation with Allure. “Jacob [Elordi] had it, the younger versions [of Cathy and Heathcliff] had it. With Cathy, I was inspired by the ‘pomegranate girl’ TikTok trend of 2024." that clean, flushed look.”
For Cathy’s scenes at the Grange home, Miller layered the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in ‘Hope’ ($45 at Sephora) and ‘Happy’ ($45 at Sephora), with the Merit Flush Balms in ‘Après’ and ‘Postmodern’ also being used for some of the moments in that same setting.
For Cathy's time at Wuthering Heights, Miller applied the Pat McGrath Labs Divine Blush Legendary Glow Colour Balm ($52 at Sephora), as well as the Chanel No.1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm in ‘Berry Boost’ ($82 at Myer). See how the colours deepen in line with the plot? Makeup is the ultimate storytelling tool, and Miller has used it beautifully.
Margot Robbie's Wuthering Heights red carpet blush
For Robbie's Wuthering Heights world premiere red carpet look, her makeup artist Pati Dubroff confirmed it was "all about the blush", blessing us with the exact four-part blush combo she used for the occasion.
"First up, I made her skin kind of even, not too much foundation at all. [We want] the blush to pop," she explained.
"For the cheek, I started with cream blush,” Dubroff noted, sharing that she used two shades of the Chanel No.1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm ($82 at Myer): ‘Red Camellia’ and ‘Berry Boost’.
“I took a bit of each and I blended them together [on my hand]. With [a] blush brush, I’m blending those two shades together and I’m going to create a windswept flush on the apples of the cheek and a bit below the apples of the cheek, and kind of flushing outwards," Dubroff explained of the application techniques to try.
“I’m going to use my foundation brush and I’m just going to make sure that there’s no harsh edges," Dubroff confirmed. "Next up, I’m going to take the tiniest whisper of loose powder over that cream blush before I put the powder blush [on]. This is [the Chanel] Rouge Noir Confidence palette ($157 at Myer, but currently out of stock) and I’m going to put this [bottom right] colour on top of where I laid the other blushes, [using] short feathery strokes.”
“Once again, I’m going to clean up any edges [to] really make sure it’s soft," Dubroff revealed, before going in with her final dewy-finish layer. "This is [the Chanel] Baume Essentiel [Multi-Use Glow Stick] ($83 at Myer) in a shade called 'Rosée' and this is a highlighter stick with a little bit of tint. I’m going to take this tinted highlighter and I’m going to put a few little pops right on the top of the cheekbone [to] add some glow.”
That's precisely how to create Margot Robbie's weather-beaten, windswept blush, whether you want to replicate Cathy's onscreen aesthetic or Robbie's real-life red carpet homage to it...
